COVID-19 Update: Campers are required to wear masks at the campground when unable to maintain 6' of social distancing. 

Starting October 15, all campsites are first come, first serve. All campsites will be open until checkout on October 18 with water and electric on site. Dump station is across the street from the campground. Rates are $20/night, $2 discount for ages 62+.

For those checking in October 18 and beyond, the only campsites available are sites 35 - 56 (50 AMP). Sites are first come, first serve. Electric will be available at all sites. No water hookups. Water filling station is near the dump station across the street from the campground. Rates are $17/night, $2 discount for ages 62+. Pay via envelope in dropbox behind office at beginning of your stay.

General Information

Lake Shawnee Campground has 123 campsites. Sites 55 + 56 are handicap accessible and campers must have a handicap license plate to reserve. To view a layout of the Lake Shawnee Campground, see our Campground Site Map.

Electricity is on to sites year-round. Sites 3 – 95 have 50-amp service available. Sites 96 – 141 have 30-amp service available.

Tent only camping is permitted on sites 35, 117-119 and 132-141.Two tents per campsite with no RV.

Water is turned on to sites April 15 – October 18.

One car is included with your reservation. To have another car parked at your campsite, there will be an additional fee. There is a maximum of 2 vehicles parked at your campsite per day. Additional free parking is available across the road from the campground entrance.

Quiet hours, 10pm – 7am year-round

There is a North Bath House and a South Bath House at the campground. Each bath house includes showers, bathrooms, and a laundry area.

A natural lake cove at the campground is open between sunrise and sunset and only to registered campers. Persons choosing to use the swimming area, surrounding dock and sidewalk do so at their own risk. No lifeguard is on staff at campground. All children 10 years of age or younger using the swimming area must be supervised by a parent, guardian or responsible companion 18 years of age or older.

Ice ($3/bag) and firewood ($5/6 pieces) are sold at the main office.

Fees

On season camping is $20 per day.  Off season camping is $17 per day.

A senior citizen discount is offered at $2 off per day for ages 62 and older. Identification with date of birth must be provided to receive discount.

To park an extra vehicle at your campsite, there is a fee of $5 per day. One vehicle is included with your reservation.

A tent erected with an R.V. in the same site will be charged an additional fee of $6 per day.

Parking spaces for boats or trailers is $3 per day. Spaces are located at the north end of the campground by the bathhouse. Campground management reserves the right to refuse if there are safety concerns. Availability not guaranteed.

There is a dump station and a water fill up station located across the street from the campground entrance. There is no fee for campers with a current reservation at the campground. For those without a current reservation, there is a $8 fee to use the dump station and a $8 fee to use the water fill up station.

No refunds will be issued for unused reservations.

On Season Camping Information (April 15 – October 17)

Campground office is staffed daily from 9am – 8pm Monday thru Saturday and 12pm – 4pm on Sunday. All visitors and campers entering the campground must register at the entrance booth and display a current camper or visitor tag.

Campsite reservations are available for arrival May 15 – October 14 on site and by phone (785-251-6834). No refunds are issued for unused reservations. To reserve a campsite, you will need to provide your name, address, date of birth, license tag on your camping unit, and the dates you intend to camp. Payment is required at the time of reservation.

4th of July Reservations are separated from regular on season reservations due to extreme high use of campground and surround area during this time frame. On Thursday, May 14 at 8am the campground will begin taking reservations for the 4th of July holiday. Campers wanting to reserve a site over the 4th of July holiday will be required to book their site for July 1 – 5. Additional reservation days will also be allowed on May 14 that are connected to the holiday booking. Walk-in reservations will be taken first.

Bottled water, bottled soda, Gatorade, ice cream bars, bagged ice, electrical adapters and firewood are sold in the campground office.

Off Season Camping Information (October 18 – April 14)

Sites are first come, first serve. There are no scheduled campground office hours. Staff does come by regularly to check facilities and collect payments from the drop box.

October 15 – January 13, the only campsites available are 35 – 56 due to Winter Wonderland being hosted at the campground.
January 14 – May 15, the only campsites available are 3 - 72 due to the north bathhouse being winterized.

Payment is made by self-pay envelopes in drop box on southwest side of campground office. Envelopes are found on a shelf inside the drop box and can be placed in the drop box once filled out and payment is included.

The north bathhouse is closed during this time.
