General Information
We are located in Topeka, Kansas at Lake Shawnee. Many sites offer great views of the lake. Shopping, restaurants, Topeka attractions and activities are all within a short drive. There is a 7-mile paved trail surrounding the entire lake if you would enjoy a nice walk or bike ride. While we are open year-round, we do have an off-season. Please see information and dates on Off/On Seasons down below. We are currently in Off-Season.
We have 114 campsites:
Section A: Include gravel back in sites. All have 50 amp electric year-round. Water hook-ups available during on-season only. Sites 55 + 56 are handicap accessible, with concrete pads and campers must have a handicap license plate to reserve. Only sites 35-56 are open during off-season.
Section B: Available during on-season. Concrete pads and full service hook-ups including water, sewer, 50 amp and 30 amp electric. Sites B2-B7 are pull throughs.
Section D: Available during on-season. RV sites are concrete pads with full service hook-ups including water, sewer, 50 amp and 30 amp electric. All RV sites are back-ins.
Site D14-D16 are tent only. Two tents allowed per campsite.
Section E: Available during on-season. Concrete pads and full service hook-ups including water, sewer, 50 amp and 30 amp electric. E3-E8 are pull throughs, the rest are back-in.

Term limit for RV camping is 30 nights. The term limit for tent camping is 5 nights. You must then leave the campground for 5 nights before returning.
Camping in cars or non-camping vehicles is not permitted.
Check in any time after 2pm and check out time is 12pm.
Quiet hours, 10pm – 7am year-round
There is a North Bath House and a South Bath House at the campground. Each bath house includes showers, bathrooms, and a laundry area.
A natural lake cove (beach) at the campground is open between sunrise and sunset and only to registered campers. Persons choosing to use the swimming area, surrounding dock and sidewalk do so at their own risk. No lifeguard is on staff at campground. All children 10 years of age or younger using the swimming area must be supervised by a parent, guardian or responsible companion 18 years of age or older.
There is a playground located near the north bath house.
The North Bath House, playground and swim beach are closed during the off-season.

2025 Off Season Camping Rates, $20/night
A senior citizen discount is offered at $2 off per day for ages 62 and older. Identification with date of birth must be provided to receive discount.
One vehicle is included with your reservation. To park an extra vehicle at your campsite, there is a fee of $5 per day.
Parking spaces for boats or trailers is $3 per day inside the campground. Spaces are located at the north end of the campground by the bathhouse. Campground management reserves the right to refuse if there are safety concerns. Availability not guaranteed.
There is a dump station and a water fill up station located across the street from the campground entrance. There is no fee for campers with a current reservation at the campground. For those without a current reservation, there is an $8 fee to use the dump station and an $8 fee to use the water fill up station.

Items sold at the main office: Ice cream bars ($2), bagged ice ($3/8lb bag), electrical adapters(50amp male to 30amp female, $20), firewood ($5/6 pieces), worms ($5/dozen), 6oz sun block ($7), 6oz mosquito spray ($7), dog waste bags ($1/15 bags), 13 gallon trash bags ($1/5 bags). There is a Coca-Cola machine located near the office.
On Season Camping Information (April 10, 2026 – October 11, 2026)
Campground office is staffed daily. All visitors and campers entering the campground must check in at the entrance booth and display a current camper or visitor tag. Payment is required at the time of reservation. All sites have water and electric hookups. The dump station is across the street. Some sites with sewer hookups available.
The newly renovated north side of the campground is open for camping during on season. Improved sites in areas B, D and E have concrete pads and are full hookups including water, sewer and electric with 50 and 30 amp service.
Off Season Camping Information (October 13, 2025 – April 9, 2026)
Limited sites are open during this time. Water is OFF to sites, please use the filling station across the street. Payment is required at the time of reservation, please use the button above to make your reservation. The north bathhouse is closed during this time. Tent camping is ONLY permitted on site 35 if available.
Water filling station and dump station are across the street from campground and included in your fee if you have a current reservation.
The office does not have regular hours during the off season, so please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.
Lake Shawnee Campground is host to Winter Wonderland, a drive-thru Christmas light display. During the evening hours, there will be vehicles from the community driving around the perimeter of the campground to enjoy this Winter Wonderland and support an incredible fundraiser. Lines to get into the campground may be longer, especially closer to Christmas time.
