Q&A's:
- How much is the fee to use a court?: $8/hour
- How many consecutive hours can one player reserve a court for?: Patrons may rent courts for 2 hour blocks
- How far ahead of time can I reserve a court?: Courts are available to rent up to 7 days in advance
- What happens if the player(s) who reserved the court doesn’t show up?: Courts will be treated the same as free play courts in this scenario.
- What happens if it rains or the courts are wet and unsafe for play, and the reservation cannot be used? Will the fee be refunded?: Renters are responsible for canceling their reservations up to the start time, which then renters will be issued a credit on their account. For a full refund, you will need to contact Parks + Recreation. If courts become unplayable after rental time has begun, refund will not be issued.
- Will the person making the reservation have a receipt so it can be shown to anyone who asks if they have a court reserved?: Receipts and Permits will be issued, via email, to the person securing the rental.
- Will there be a website the players can check to see which courts are reserved and for what time?: Court reservation information can be found online at https://parks.snco.us/465/Pickleball
- How will play work on the courts that are not available for reservation?: Several courts will always remain available for free, open play on a first-come, first-served basis. For these free play courts, rotation will be guided using the paddle stacking system as outlined by signage on the courts.
Pickleball Rules:
- Only contracted pickleball professionals may teach lessons/coach players on the courts.
- No carts, ball hoppers, cones, targets, or other teaching materials are allowed on the courts.
- No horseplay or profanity is allowed.
- These courts are only to be used for recreational play. Shawnee County Parks & Recreation staff must approve all court use for leagues, tournaments, programs, and other organized events.
- Players must wear appropriate pickleball attire. Shirts and tennis shoes are required.
- No pets, motorcycles, motorbikes, bicycles, skates, skateboard, or other vehicles are allowed on the courts.
- Players will not be permitted to play when courts are unplayable due to weather. Players must exit the tennis courts during lightning/thunderstorms or any other weather conditions that will endanger player safety.
- Players assume all risks associated with play.
- A 15-minute default rule will be in effect for court reservations.
- Glass containers and alcohol are prohibited on the pickleball courts.
