Why does SCPR offer Scholarship Opportunities? Access to parks and recreation programs should never be limited by circumstance. Shawnee County Parks + Recreation is committed to outreach efforts and scholarship opportunities that ensure individuals and families of all backgrounds and abilities can participate in programs that support health, wellness, and community connection. By proactively engaging neighborhoods, community partners, and underserved populations, SCPR works to reduce barriers through their scholarship program.
Scholarships help ensure that financial limitations do not prevent participation, while outreach strengthens relationships and builds trust within the community. Together, these efforts create more inclusive, welcoming, and equitable opportunities for everyone to experience the physical, social, and lifelong benefits of parks and recreation.
Who is eligible? SCPR offers youth scholarships for anyone under 18, and an adult adaptive scholarship for people with disabilities over 18. Eligibility for both scholarships is based on income.
How do I submit my application? Drop of scholarship paperwork at any SCP+R location, ATTN: Darlene Streeter or email paperwork to Darlene.streeter@snco.us
